Intradural disk herniation with CT appearance of gas collection.

چکیده
Intradural disk rupture has been reported [1-5] . In most cases disk herniation in the lumbar region occurs on one side or the other of the strong posterior longitudinal ligament; seldom is the central part of the ligament perforated . Very rarely , a disk fragment ruptures through the anterior aspect of the spinal dura to project intrathecally [1] . Continued negative pressure is not necessary to retain gas within a disk [6] . Consequently, gas formed in the nucleus pulposus may persist even if the latter herniates into the spinal canal. Intradural rupture of a disk fragment with the computed tomographic (CT) appearance of an intraspinal gas collection has not been reported . In the case we report , reparative neuromalike tissue reactions had developed around a nerve root to which the disk fragment appeared to be firmly attached [7] . CT provided very important information

Cervical Intradural Disc Herniation and Intradural Gas on CT Scan
Intradural disc herniation has been reported as a rare type of intervertebral disc herniation, only 32 cases reported. It remains difficult to definitively diagnose the disease before surgery. We reported a 55 year-old female patient complaints of nuchal pain and bilateral arm weakness after a trauma accident. MRI revealed a C3-C4 herniated intervertebral disc (HIVD) with a “hawk-beak sign.” CT...
متن کاملIntradural lumbar disk herniation.
Intradural lumbar disk herniation is an uncommon occurrence in the natural course and clinical spectrum of lumbar disk disease. The reported cases suggest an incidence of 0.13%. This case report presents some of the commonly occurring clinical and radiographic findings in intradural lumbar disk herniation, including those of CT. It also demonstrates the importance of metrizamide-enhanced CT in ...

an incidence that ranges from 0.26% to 0.30% of all herniated discs (1). Myelography, computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) are generally used to diagnose intradural lumbar disc herniation (IDLDH), but there can be some differences according to each case. Several studies have reported of a potential association between intradural disc herniation and gas within the spinal...
متن کاملIntradural disc herniation at the T1-T2 level.
Intradural disc herniations comprise 0.26-0.30% of all herniated discs. Five percent are found in the thoracic, 3% in the cervical, and 92% in the lumbar region. Although intradural disc herniation may be suspected on preoperatively made CT scans, myelograms, and MRI scans, establishing the diagnosis prior to the surgery is difficult. We present a case of the patient with severe neurological de...
متن کاملMigratory Intradural Disk Herniation and a Strategy for Intraoperative Localization
Study Design Case report. Objective Describe a case of intradural disk herniation and a method for intraoperative localization. Methods Intradural disk herniations are uncommon but well described. The diagnosis of these lesions is often difficult, and sometimes they may be diagnosed only through an intradural exploration after an expected disk fragment cannot be located. We report the case of a...
